Isabel Frommelt-Gottschald (born September 2, 1974 ) is a Liechtenstein diplomat . She has been the ambassador of the Principality of Liechtenstein to Germany since August 2017 .

Isabel Frommelt was born on September 2, 1974. She attended the Liechtenstein Gymnasium in Vaduz . From 1997 to 2001 she studied political science at the University of Bern , with a semester abroad at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Lisbon . Frommelt holds a master's degree ( lic.rer.soc ) in sociology and a bachelor's degree in economics and politics . In 2010, Frommelt studied part-time at the University of St. Gallen , which she graduated with an Executive Master of European and International Business Law in 2011.

From August to December 2001, Frommelt's career path took her to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. She then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Social Planning and Social Management in Bern until 2002 and as a research assistant for bilateral economic relations at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) until 2003 . At SIPRI in Stockholm , Frommelt headed the Business and Security program until 2004 . At the Economic Unit of the Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein , she took over the project management of the analysis of the Liechtenstein welfare state .

In 2005, Frommelt joined the diplomatic service in her home country. As second secretary, she worked in Geneva at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and the EFTA . In 2008 she moved to the Office for Foreign Affairs in Vaduz as the first secretary , where she was promoted to Counselor in 2012 and Minister Envoy in 2015. From April 2016 to July 2017, Frommelt was deputy head of the office and headed the “Security and Human Rights” department.

After Frommelt-Gottschald had been the ambassador's deputy in Berlin from 2013 to 2016, she was accredited as ambassador on July 10, 2017 as the successor to Prince Stefan of Liechtenstein . Her deputy is currently Esther Schindler (as of July 2019).

Frommelt-Gottschald speaks German, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

Private life

Isabel Frommelt-Gottschald is married and has two children.
