Isabelle van Keulen

Isabelle van Keulen (born December 16, 1966 in Mijdrecht , Netherlands ) is a Dutch violinist and violist .

Live and act

She started playing the violin at the age of six. She began her studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and later continued with Sándor Végh at the Salzburg Mozarteum . The central element of her work is chamber music and, last but not least, the interpretation of contemporary artists. Contemporary composers such as Theo Loevendie and Erkki-Sven Tüür wrote violin concertos for them.

In 1996 she founded the international chamber music festival in Delft in her home country . There she worked both as an interpreter and until 2006 as a director. She has given concerts with Leif Ove Andsnes , Håkan Hardenberger , Gidon Kremer , Heinrich Schiff and Thomas Adès , among others .

In 2011 she founded the Isabelle van Keulen Ensemble together with the pianist Ulrike Payer, the bandoneonist Christian Gerber and her husband, the double bass player Rüdiger Ludwig, in order to perform Astor Piazzolla's compositions on international concert platforms, resulting in a CD / DVD / BluRay -Production of the Challenge Classics label and extensive concert activities in this genre as well. Since 2012 she has been teaching music for violin and viola as well as chamber music at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences .

At concerts around the globe she played among others with the orchestras of Berlin Philharmonic , Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , Vienna Symphony Orchestra , Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich , London Philharmonia Orchestra Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Basel Chamber Orchestra .

She has worked with conductors Mark Elder , Valery Gergiev , Neeme Järvi , Sir Neville Marriner , Sir Roger Norrington , Osmo Vänskä , Hugh Wolff and David Zinman .
