The Isar-Amper Werke AG was a regional power companies that large parts of Upper Bavaria outside the state capital Munich supplied with electrical power. On November 28, 2001, it merged with the four other Bavarian regional suppliers Energieversorgung Oberfranken AG, OBAG AG, Überlandwerk Unterfranken AG, Großkraftwerk Franken AG in E.ON Bayern , since July 2013 Bayernwerk AG.
Isarwerke GmbH
In the years 1889-1894, the Munich-based construction and real estate entrepreneur Jakob Heilmann in collaboration with the banker friend Wilhelm von Finck , co-owner of the bank Merck Finck & Co and Johannes Kaempf , board member of the bank for trade and industry , was the later Danat-Bank built the eighth German three-phase power plant "Zentrale I", which was later called the Höllriegelskreuth hydropower plant and which remained in operation until 1940 when it was replaced by a new building.
After the city of Munich showed no interest in this project, Jakob Heilmann, Wilhelm von Finck and the Darmstädter Bank für Handel und Industrie founded Isarwerke GmbH on October 31, 1894 with share capital of 2 million gold marks, which took over the operation of the power plant. Isarwerke GmbH was thus the first regional electricity supply company in Germany. Heilmann developed the Obersendling industrial area to buy electricity .
In 1904 the second Isar power plant, "Zentrale II" near Pullach , was put into operation, which is now called the Pullach hydroelectric power plant .
Isarwerke GmbH's participation in the operative business ended in 1955 when it initially transferred it to Isarwerke AG, which in turn brought it into the newly founded Isar-Amperwerke AG. From then on, the three family lines August and Wilhelm von Finck and Wilhelm Winterstein (Bankhaus Merck Finck & Co) together held around 90 percent of the shares in a GmbH, which acted as the holding company for Isar-Amperwerke and was also the operator of the Isar nuclear power plant . In September 1994 Isar-Amperwerke GmbH was taken over by Bayernwerk AG, which at the time belonged to the VIAG group. Financial analysts estimated the value at well over a billion marks.
Isarwerke AG
In 1921, the main shareholders of Isarwerke GmbH, Jakob Heilmann, the Merck Finck & Co and Georg von Simson , shareholders of Danat-Bank - Darmstädter und Nationalbank , founded Isarwerke AG for the purpose of operating the Mühltal hydropower station near Schäftlarn .
Amperwerke Elektrizitäts-AG
With the takeover of the Oberbayerische Überlandzentrale (OBÜZ) in 1932, the Amperwerke became the largest Upper Bavarian power supply company, even before the Isarwerke.

Isar-Amperwerke AG was created in 1955 from the merger of Amperwerke Elektrizitäts-AG and Isarwerke AG, which had taken over the assets of Isarwerke GmbH for this purpose. In 2001, the company was combined with the four Bavarian regional suppliers Energieversorgung Oberfranken AG, Großkraftwerke Franken, OBAG AG and Überlandwerk Unterfranken AG to form E.ON Bayern AG , today's Bayernwerk AG. The former company archive is stored in the Bavarian Economic Archive.
