Mohd Iskandar Alwi (born February 26, 1994 in Johor ) is a Malaysian pole vaulter .

Athletic career

Iskandar Alwi gained his first international experience at the 2013 Asian Championships in Pune , where he finished ninth with 4.70 m. The Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang , he finished with 4.90 m and finished fourth in the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw , he won with a new national record of 5.10 meters silver medal behind the Thais Kreeta Sintawacheewa . In 2014, he did not succeed at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou and at the Asian Games in Incheonhe finished eighth with 5.10 m. Previously he reached ninth place with 5.00 m at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow . In 2015 he won the bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore with 5.05 m behind Porranot Purahong from Thailand and Ernest Obiena from the Philippines. The following year he took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha , where he finished sixth with 5.00. In 2017 he won the bronze medal again at the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur with 5.25 m behind the Thais Purahong and Patsapong Amsam-Ang .

In 2018 he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and finished eighth there with 5.00 m. In the summer he finished ninth at the Asian Games in Jakarta with skipped 5.20 m. The following year he won another bronze medal behind the Filipino Obiena and Purahong from Thailand at the Southeast Asian Games in Capas with 5.00 m.

In 2012 and 2013 as well as in 2018 and 2019, Alwi was the Malaysian champion in the pole vault.
