Israel Ochoa

Israel Antonio Ochoa Plazas (born August 26, 1964 in Paipa ) is a former Colombian road cyclist .

Israel Ochoa began his career in 1992 with the Colombian cycling team Gaseosas Glacial . In the 1996 season he won the overall classification at the Clásico RCN, the next year he was successful at the Vuelta a Boyacà and in 1998 he was first overall at the Vuelta a Cundinamarca. In 2000 he drove for the team Aguardiente Néctar-Selle Italia , where he became Colombian time trial champion. In the 2002 season, Ochoa won a stage in the Vuelta a Colombia . The next year he won a section at the Clásica del Meta and a stage at the Vuelta a Boyacà, where he also won the overall standings. In 2004 he became the Colombian time trial and road racing champion. He also won a stage at the Doble Copacabana Grand Prix Fides , as well as a stage and the overall ranking at the Vuelta a Costa Rica . In the 2005 season he was successful on the first section of the Gran Premio Mercanapro and was able to win the overall ranking. He also won stages at the Vuelta a Boyacà, the Clasica del Meta, the Vuelta a Antioquia and the Doble Copacabana Grand Prix Fides. In 2006 Ochoa again won a stage and the overall standings at the Vuelta a Boyacà. The next year he won a stage each at the Clásica Club Deportivo Boyacá and at the Vuelta a los Santanderes, as well as two sections at the Clásico RCN. In the 2008 season he was successful in the first stage of the Clásica Ciudad de Girardot and he was again Colombian time trial champion.
