Church of Ivö

Ivö is a village ( småort ) in the Swedish municipality of Kristianstad . The place is east of Kristianstad on Ivö island in Ivösjön .

Ivö is the main town on the island, which can only be reached by ferry, and is located in the southern part of the island. To the east of the village, not far from the shore of the Kyrkeviken Bay , is the church of Ivö, which dates back to the Middle Ages . The St. Ursula spring is also located directly at the church .

Ivö belonged to the rural municipality Fjälkinge (Fjälkinge landskommun) before it was absorbed into the municipality of Kristianstad on January 1, 1971.

In 2000 Ivö was not listed as Småort and therefore had less than 50 inhabitants. In 2005 the population rose to 62, about a third of the island's population, and continued to 81 by 2015. In the summer months, however, the actual number of inhabitants due to tourists visiting the island is higher.
