Ivana Houserová (born June 25, 1957 in Jablonec nad Nisou , Czechoslovakia ; † June 5, 2015 in Kněžmost ) was a Czech glass artist and designer.

Life

Houserová studied from 1972 to 1976 at the School of Applied Arts in Železný Brod in the glass engraving department. She then studied from 1976 to 1982 at the Academy for Art, Architecture and Design in Prague at the glass studio with Stanislav Libenský . She received further artistic experience and impulses for her own work in the summer of 1988 at the Pilchuck Glass School in Pilchuck / Washington with Jiří Harcuba and Ronald Pennell . In 1995 she first exhibited as an artist in the Musée du verre de Sars-Poteries in France .

In 1985, 1988 and 2006 she took part in several international symposia on glass and glass art in Nový Bor and in 1997 in Leerdam .

In the 1984/85 school year she taught a course for glass engravers at the School of Applied Arts in Železný Brod; in 2008 she returned to school and was responsible for the students in the glass cutting and grinding department until her death.

Houserová was killed in a house fire in Drhleny, a district of the northern Czech municipality of Kněžmost , in June 2015 at the age of 57.
