Ivan Andrejewitsch Jakimuschkin ( Russian Иван Андреевич Якимушкин ; born June 17, 1996 in Tyumen ) is a Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Jakimuschkin started in Krasnogorsk in December 2012 for the first time in the Eastern Europe Cup and finished 119th in the 15 km freestyle. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2015 in Almaty , he won the silver medal in the skiathlon and the gold medal with the relay. He was also fourth there over 10 km freestyle. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he took his first victory in the Eastern Europe Cup in the sprint in Werschina Tjoi . This was followed by two top ten placements and thus achieved 14th place in the overall ranking of the Eastern Europe Cup. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râșnov , he won the silver medal with the relay and the gold medal in the 15 km freestyle. In March 2016, he became the Russian junior champion in the 10 km freestyle and skiathlon in Izhevsk . At the beginning of the following season he triumphed again in the sprint in Vershina Tjoi, where he also finished second in the 10 km freestyle. This was followed by ninth place in the sprint and eighth place over 15 km freestyle in Krasnogorsk and finally ninth place in the overall ranking of the Eastern Europe Cup. At the U23 World Ski Championships in 2017 in Soldier Hollow , he came 26th over 15 km freestyle. In February 2017, he was in Syktyvkar Russian U23 champion in the skiathlon. After three victories in FIS races in Tyumen at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, he started the World Cup for the first time at the Tour de Ski 2017/18 . After placing 58th in the sprint in Lenzerheide with 29th place over 15 km, he got his first World Cup points. He finished the tour in 21st place. At the U23 World Ski Championships in Goms in January 2018 , he won the bronze medal over 15 km classic. He also achieved 24th place in the sprint and fourth place in the skiathlon. The following month he was in Syktywkar Russian U23 champion over 15 km freestyle and in the skiathlon.

After 11th place in the Lillehammer Triple at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Jakimuschkin won the Eastern Europe Cup in Krasnogorsk over 15 km freestyle and sprint. At the U23 World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2019 , he won bronze medals in the 30 km mass start race and the 15 km freestyle. In February 2019 he became Russian U23 champion in the sprint, over 15 km classic and 30 km mass start race in Rybinsk . At the Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk , he won the gold medal over 10 km in classic, pursuit and relay. At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he finished 18th in the Ruka Triple and won the relay in Lillehammer . He finished the Tour de Ski 2019/20 in 17th place. He achieved second place in the 15 km freestyle in Toblach . This was followed by third place in the 15 km mass start race in Falun and 18th place in the ski tour. He finished the season in 17th place in the overall World Cup and 13th place in the Distance World Cup.
