Ivan Ivanovich Ochlobystin ( Russian Ива́н Ива́нович Охлобы́стин ; born   July 22, 1966 in the holiday home " Polenowo ", Tula Oblast , USSR ) is a Russian actor , television presenter , voice actor , director , playwright , journalist , writer and politician . In addition, Ochlobystin is a Russian Orthodox priest who is currently on leave. In Russia he became known to the general public in his role as Andrei Evgenyevich Bykov in the hospital series Interny .

Life path and first successes

Ivan Ochlobystin's parents had an age difference of 39 years. His father, Iwan Iwanowitsch Ochlobystin (1906-1994), was chief physician. His mother, Albina Ivanovna Belyeva (* 1945), was an economist and engineer.

After graduating from school, Ochlobystin studied at the Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography . After his military service in the army - he was stationed with the rocket troops in Rostov-on-Don - Ochlobystin returned to the institute and was also involved in social institutions. In 1992 he graduated from the film directing department of the Gerasimov Institute. Ochlobystin made his debut as an actor in the short film "Noga" (Нога, Eng. "Foot"). For this he received an award at the film festival "Jugend 91". The first scene written by Ochlobystin was in the film "Urod" (Eng. "Freak"). For this, too, he received an award called “Green apple, golden leaf”.

The first film that was shot entirely under the direction of Iwan Ochlobystin was "Arbitr". The work received the “Kinotower” award in the “Films for the Chosen” category. Ochlobystin made his theater debut on February 16, 1996 in the Moscow Art Theater.

The way into the clergy

Although Ivan Ochlobystin's parents were staunch communists and atheists , he was Orthodox baptized at the age of 15. He has called himself a devout Orthodox Christian since he was baptized, but only attended church sporadically.

Since Ochlobystin said he was not morally fulfilling his acting profession, he went to the Uzbek eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tashkent in 2001 and trained there as a priest. He took on the church name Ioann .

From 2002 to 2005 Ochlobystin was employed as a priest in the Church of St. Nikolai in the Samoskvorechye district of Moscow .

Return to the film stage

In 2008 Iwan Ochlobystin returned to the film stage. The first film in which he appeared as an actor was "Zagowor" (Eng. "Conspiracy"), in which he played Grigory Efimovich Rasputin .

The fact that Ochlobystin also appeared as an actor in addition to his work as a priest met with divided opinions in the Orthodox Church, but was still tolerated.

But his role in the film “Tsar” (2009), where Ochlobystin played Ivan the Terrible's court jester , caused outrage in the church. Complaints came from both the clergy and the Orthodox believers themselves.

At the end of 2009 Ochlobystin wrote a letter to the Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kyrill I , where he asked for a leave of absence as a priest. Cyril I complied with this request and released Ochlobystin from his priesthood in February 2010. Cyril I added that Ivan Ochlobystin should choose between church and acting. According to the church's view, the two cannot be reconciled.

In March 2010, Ochlobystin made his personal breakthrough with the hospital comedy series Interny . The series achieved immense popularity in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

From December 2010 to January 2014 Ochlobystin was the creative director of the Russian retail chain "Ewroset".

In 2011 Ochlobystin made his debut as a voice actor. In the Russian-language dubbing of the film Rango , he lent his voice to the Texas rattlesnake Jake .

From January 21st to June 25th, 2012 Iwan Ochlobystin presented the program “First Class” on the television channel Perwy kanal .

Political activity

In his political stance , Ochlobystin describes himself as a tenderly loyal monarchist . On September 5, 2011, at a press conference with the Interfax news agency , he announced his candidacy in the 2012 Russian presidential elections . Two weeks later, however, he revoked his announcement.

On April 18, 2012 Ochlobystin founded his own party called "Coalition Heaven" ( Russian Коалиция небо). According to the founder Iwan Ochlobystin, the party has a monarchist, national-patriotic and Christian-Orthodox orientation. Among other things, she calls for the reintroduction of Russian tsarism. As part of his party formation, Ochlobystin was supported by Eduard Limonow .

In the debate about Pussy Riot , Ochlobystin stood up for the feminist punk rock collective. In July 2012, he wrote an open letter to Patriarch Kyrill I, expressing that the way in which the girls from Pussy Riot are dealt with was damaging the Russian Orthodox Church. "With every day that the participants of the Pussy Riot group are in jail, the Russian Orthodox Church loses the support of dozens of Christians between the ages of 16 and 60," Ochlobystin wrote in the open letter.

On August 14, 2012, it was announced that Ivan Ochlobystin would become chairman of the Supreme Council of the Right Cause Party . The party chairman Andrei Dunayev gave Ochlobystin the task of writing a new party program. The party program is entitled "Russia for the People". However, Ochlobystin is not a member of this party himself. On October 5, 2012, however, it was announced that Ochlobystin will not write the program due to a decision by the Holy Synod . However, he will spiritually care for the believing party members.

Ochlobystin commented on homosexuals with the words “I would put them all alive in the oven.” As a believer, he could not watch this “ Sodom and Gomorrah ”. "This is a constant danger to my children."

On January 7, 2014, Ochlobystin wrote to Russian President Vladimir Putin requesting that homosexual practices be criminalized. For this purpose, according to Ochlobystin, the criminal offense of “sexual intercourse with men”, which already existed in the Soviet Union , should be reintroduced. At the same time, Ochlobystin criticized the law on "homosexual propaganda" introduced in June 2013 , as this in itself already represents an advertisement for homosexuality.

Ivan Ochlobystin has been a member of the Izborsk Club since May 2014 .

On October 25, 2014, Latvia imposed an entry ban on Ivan Ochlobystin. The Latvian Foreign Minister justified the entry ban for Ochlobystin with "incitement to ethnic hatred". In November 2014, Estonia also imposed an entry ban on ochlobystine.

In August 2015, the Ukrainian secret service SBU classified Ochlobystin as a "threat to the security of the Ukrainian state".

Private

Ivan Ochlobystin collects antique hunting rifles. He is a member of the "Union of Hunters and Anglers of Russia". Chess is one of his other hobbies . Between 2005 and 2008 he was engaged in the Japanese martial art Aikidō .

Ochlobystin has been married to his colleague Oksana Arbusowa since 1995 . The couple have six children - two sons (Vasily and Sawwa) and four daughters (Anfissa, Evdokija, Varwara and Ioanna). The family lives in Moscow .

On October 3, 2013, Ochlobystin's younger half-brother Stanislav died in a traffic accident.
