Ivan Trusch

Ivan Iwanowytsch Trush ( Ukrainian Іван Іванович Труш , scientific. Transliteration Ivan Ivanovyč TRUS ; Polish Ivan Trusz * 17th January 1869 in Wysocko in Brody , Galicia , Austria-Hungary ; † 23. March 1941 in Lviv , General ) was a Ukrainian painter and literary critic.

Life

Between 1881 and 1887 Iwan Trusch attended the KK Kronprinz-Rudolf-Gymnasium in Brody, in front of which a memorial has been commemorating him since 1984. Trusch studied at the Cracow Art Academy (under Leon Wyczółkowski and Jan Stanisławski ). This was followed by studies in Munich (with Anton Ažbe ) and Vienna .

Trusch toured Rome , Crimea , Egypt and Palestine . He also visited Kiev several times , where he briefly taught at the drawing school of Mykola Muraschko . During the last years of his life he worked in Lviv. The collections of his pictures are in the Lviv Museum of Ukrainian Art and in the artist's villa in Lemberg, Iwan-Trusch-Str. 28.

Trusch was a friend of Ivan Franko and the son-in-law of the Ukrainian historian and political thinker Mychajlo Drahomanow .
