Jérôme Razafindrazaka

Jérôme Razafindrazaka (born March 15, 1915 in Andriampamaky , Madagascar , † August 1, 1992 ) was a Malagasy Roman Catholic clergyman and from 1972 to 1989 Bishop of Tamatave in Madagascar.

Life

Jérôme Razafindrazaka received on 25 July 1947, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On March 25, 1972, he was the first Madagascan to be appointed Bishop of Tamatave. Jérôme Louis Cardinal Rakotomalala , the Archbishop of Antananarivo , donated him episcopal ordination on August 15, 1972 ; Co-consecrators were his predecessor Bishop Jules-Joseph Puset SMM and Archbishop Gilbert Ramanantoanina SJ of Fianarantsoa . During his tenure he invited missionaries from the Polish branch of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary to his diocese and asked for a settlement to be established. On December 3, 1980, the first five missionaries were implemented . Bishop Razafindrazaka was co-consecrator of Bishop Ferdinand Botsy, OFMCap . On May 15, 1989 he became Bishop Emeritus of Tamatave

Jérôme Razafindrazaka died on August 1, 1992 and was buried in the crypt of the Cathédrale de l'Immaculée Conception d'Andohalo .
