René Joseph Rakotondrabé (born September 12, 1932 in Fandriana , Madagascar , † July 9, 2012 ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Toamasina .

Life

René Joseph Rakotondrabé was ordained a priest on April 11, 1960 after his theological and philosophical training .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on March 25, 1972 titular bishop of Umbriatico and auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Tuléar . Archbishop Michele Cecchini , Pro-Nuncio in Madagascar, donated him episcopal ordination on October 1, 1972 ; Co- consecrators were Gilbert Ramanantoanina SJ , Archbishop of Fianarantsoa , and Albert Joseph Tsiahoana , Archbishop of Diégo-Suarez .

On February 28, 1974 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed Bishop of Tuléar (from 1989 Diocese of Toliara). On May 15, 1989 Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Tamatave , since the renaming of the Toamasina diocese on January 31, 1990 he has been its bishop.
