Jörg Bahnemann

Jörg Andreas Bahnemann (born December 30, 1932 in Petershagen near Berlin ) is a German officer ( retired major general ).

Life

Promotions

After graduating from high school in 1952, Bahnemann completed training as a police officer with the Eckernförde riot police in Kiel in 1952/53 . After working in Schleswig-Holstein, he joined the Bundeswehr in 1956 . First he was with the Panzer Grenadier Training Battalion in Munster and then at the Army Officer School I in Hanover. In 1957/58 he attended the Fla school and was a platoon leader in the Fla training battalion in Rendsburg. 1958/59 he received a. a. a NIKE training in the USA. Afterwards he was deputy battery chief at Fla-Raketenbataillon 21 in Gelsenkirchen. In 1961 he became company commander in Fla-Missile Battalion 26 in Jever.

From 1964 to 1966 he took part in the 9th General Staff Course (L) of the Command Academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. In 1966/67 he was assistant to the Air Force Command (Fü LI 1) in Bonn. From 1967 to 1969 he was Air Force Adjutant to the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr , General Ulrich de Maizière . In 1969 he became an air warfare officer at the FüAkBw. In 1972 he moved to Bonn as a consultant in the Air Force Command (Fü LV 1). In 1973/74 he was a consultant for air defense planning. In 1974 he became a staff officer at the Chief of Staff in the Command Staff of the Armed Forces (Fü S). From 1975 to 1977 he was the commander of the Fla-Missile Regiment 2 in Lich. In 1977 he became Cief Assistant of Staff Defense Op. at the HQ Allied Air Forces Central Europe (AAFCE) in Ramstein. 1979/80 he was Head of Section Fü L VI 3 in Bonn.

In 1980 he went to Cologne-Wahn as chief of the air force command . From 1984 to 1989 he was Vice-Chairman Air Defense Committee (NADC) in Brussels.

From 1972 to 1975 he attended an evening course in political science at the University of Bonn (without a degree).

After the end of service in 1989 he was chairman of the military policy committee and member of the board of the German Atlantic Society (1989–1992). From 1992 to 1994 he was the spokesman for the advisory board of the Clausewitz Society , before that he was a member of the board from 1989 to 1992. He is an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute for Foreign Policy Analysis in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

From the 1990s he was self-employed as a consultant. From 1995 to 1999 he was a consultant for TNT Germany .
