Jörg Menzel
Jörg Menzel (born January 31, 1965 - † April 9, 2016 in Istanbul ) was a German law scholar and university professor .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1984 and doing military service, Menzel studied law at the University of Bonn from 1986 to 1992 . After his legal clerkship and work at the Federal Ministry of Justice , he became a research assistant to Wolfgang Löwer again at the University of Bonn in 1996 . In 1998 there his doctorate to Dr. iur. with the dissertation Land constitutional law: constitutional sovereignty and homogeneity in the constitutional federal state . His habilitation also took place at the University of Bonn with a thesis on International Public Law: Constitutional and Administrative Border Law in Times of Open Statehood . He then worked there as a private lecturer .
From 2003 to 2010 Menzel worked full-time as a legal and legislative advisor to the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia and as a lecturer at various Cambodian universities. In addition to many lecturing activities throughout Asia , he was visiting professor at the University of Kobe in Japan in 2009 . For the German Society for International Cooperation , Menzel was then a consultant for legal reform projects in Cambodia in 2010 and 2011, including drafting an administrative procedure law and also for legal and judicial reform in Kyrgyzstan .
From 2011 to 2015 he was a professor at the universities in Cologne , Bonn, Dresden and Erfurt as well as at the EBS University of Economics and Law . From 2015 until his death he taught at the Turkish-German University in Istanbul and held lectureships at the Technical University in Dresden. He held a long-term DAAD lectureship in Istanbul . Most recently he was given the title of Professor / Assistant Professor . He is said to have taken on a chair there in 2016 and was one of the founding members of the university's law faculty.
His estate was taken over by the Augsburg University Library in 2017 .
