Jörg Sibbel (born March 3, 1965 in Hanerau-Hademarschen ) is a German administrator and mayor of Eckernförde since 2007 .

Life

Sibbel grew up in Lütjenwestedt and graduated from the Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium in Heide in 1984 . In 1984 he began training as an administrative clerk at the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district administration . Then he was employed by the district youth welfare office in Rendsburg-Eckernförde.

Sibbel studied administrative sciences at the University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Services in Altenholz and has since been allowed to hold the title of " Diplom-Verwaltungswirt (FH) ". After working as a civil servant both in the public order office and in the social office of the city of Kiel , Sibbel became head of the public order and social office in Nortorf in 1993 .

Jörg Sibbel was the first full-time mayor of the municipality of Osterrönfeld from 2002 , after winning the direct mayor election on December 16, 2001 with 79.03 percent and a voter turnout of 74.84 percent against the former honorary incumbent. He was elected mayor of Eckernförde on September 24, 2006 as a non-party candidate at the suggestion of the CDU parliamentary group. Sibbel won the election with 65.70 percent and a turnout of 59.10 percent against the incumbent at the time. On May 25, 2014, with the support of the CDU , SPD , Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , SSW and FDP with 85.70 percent and a voter turnout of 46.20 percent, he was re-elected for a further term of eight years.

Sibbel is chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein Association of Cities and a member of the Presidium of the German Association of Cities and Towns (DStGB). He is chairman of the board of the pension equalization fund of the municipal associations Schleswig-Holstein (VAK). Jörg Sibbel is the chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Eckernförde GmbH, Stadtwerke SH GmbH & Co. KG, Eckernförde Touristik und Marketing GmbH, Lokalen Tourismus Organization (LTO) Eckernförder Bucht GmbH and the cooperative housing company Eckernförde eG (GWU). He was awarded the German Fire Brigade Medal of Honor in recognition of outstanding achievements in the field of fire services.

He has been a member of the CDU since 2019.

Jörg Sibbel has been married since 1993 and has two sons.
