Júlio César , full name Júlio César Jacobi (born September 2, 1986 in Guaramirim , Brazil ) is a Brazilian football goalkeeper . He is under contract with the traditional Brazilian club Grêmio Porto Alegre .

Career

Júlio César started his professional career in August 2005 at Botafogo FR , where he signed a five-year contract. He played his first competitive game for Botafogo FR on November 26, 2006, in a 0-0 draw against SC Corinthians Paulista .

After three years of professional football in Brazil, he left the club for Portugal to Belenenses Lisbon . Júlio César Jacobi made his Primeira Liga debut on February 29, 2008 against Marítimo Funchal when he came on in the 29th minute. After that, he didn't miss a single minute during his time at Belenenses and played in every competitive game.

After 42 games for Belenenses, he moved to local rivals Benfica Lisbon in early August 2009 . Jorge Jesus , the Benfica coach, knew Júlio César from his time at Belenenses and signed the goalkeeper after Marcelo Moretto's contract was terminated. Júlio César signed a five-year contract.

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season, he moved to the Spanish first division club Granada CF for a year on loan . After the loan contract expired, he returned to Benfica Lisbon, but without being part of the squad. In 2013 he terminated his contract with Benfica.

In March 2014, Júlio César was brought in by Getafe FC after their goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Moyà was injured. Júlio César made five league appearances by the end of the season. In September 2014 he signed a contract with Fluminense FC and returned to his home country in Brazil. After five years at FLU , Júlio César changed clubs in early 2019. He signed a two-year contract with Gremio Porto Alegre .
