Jewish cemetery (Osterspai)
The Osterspai Jewish cemetery is a cemetery in the Osterspai community in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It stands as a cultural monument under monument protection .
The Jewish cemetery is located south of the Rhine and the federal highway 42 on a plateau southeast above the town.
In the 784 square meter cemetery, an enclosed, rectangular area that was probably laid out in the 19th century, four gravestones from 1917 to 1922 have been preserved. The cemetery also served as a burial place for the Jews in Filsen and Kamp-Bornhofen .
In 1997 and 2002 the cemetery was desecrated : in 1997 it was completely devastated, tombstones were overturned and the enclosure destroyed. In August 2002, tombstones were knocked over again.
