Jewish cemetery (Mönchsdeggingen)
The Jewish cemetery in Mönchsdeggingen , a municipality in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries , is located outside of the village in the direction of Bissingen on the Magerbeiner Steige.
history
The Jewish community Mönchsdeggingen first buried their dead in the Jewish cemetery in Harburg . The own cemetery in Mönchsdeggingen was created around 1832/33.
The first to be buried in 1833 was Rikel Krischer, born Heimann (1781 - July 24, 1833), Samuel Krischer's widow in Hürben . The last burial took place in 1879. Today there are still 143 tombstones ( mazewot ) in the cemetery . The square cemetery has an area of 14.30 acres and is surrounded by a stone wall.
Tahara house
To the right of the entrance is a large Tahara house , which was probably built when the cemetery was laid out.
time of the nationalsocialism
During the Nazi era , there was no damage in the cemetery. The Protestant church servant Friedrich Wiedemann (1897–1991) acquired the cemetery grounds on June 27, 1939, thereby protecting it from destruction by the National Socialists .
