Jürgen Egger

Jürgen Egger (born November 26, 1959 in Bamberg , † July 1, 2009 in Munich ) was a German screenwriter and director .

Life

Jürgen Egger attended the Willstätter Gymnasium in Nuremberg from 1970 to 1979 . After graduating from high school, he did his community service; In 1981 he began studying phonetics , linguistics and psychology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . However, he gave up this two years later in favor of studying at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), which he broke off without a degree. From 1987 he worked mainly as a screenwriter. His work has included films such as High Crusade - Fricassee in Space and Little Sharks . He also edited the scripts of Das Superweib and Comedian Harmonists . After some initial success, he turned down the HFF's offer to be awarded a diploma. In 1997 Egger shot his only film as a director with Harald - Der Chaot aus dem Weltall (leading roles: Heinrich Schafmeister and Martina Gedeck ). At the Baden-Wuerttemberg Film Academy , he taught undergraduate studies in the scriptwriting department and supervised workshops for actors. He also worked as a freelance writer for some hi-fi magazines. He wrote reviews, test reports and trade fair reports; in it he also critically addressed the circumstances of the music and hi-fi scene.

From 2001 to 2004 he was a partner in the Rat Pack film production company and, as a consultant producer, was responsible for Oliver Kalkofe's first feature film , Der WiXXer . He was one of the founding members of the German Film Academy and the German Academy for Football Culture .

Egger died on July 1st, 2009 after a long illness in Munich.
