Jürgen Ehlers (2008)

Jürgen Ehlers (born May 2, 1948 in Hamburg ) is a German geographer and writer . He became known to the general public through his crime novels and stories. He is a leading German expert in the geology of the Ice Age.

Life

Jürgen Ehlers grew up in Hamburg and graduated from high school there in 1968. He studied geography at the University of Hamburg and received his doctorate in 1978 with the dissertation The Quaternary Morphogenesis of the Harburg Mountains and their Surroundings . After graduating, he worked at the Hamburg State Geological Office until his retirement in 2013 . There he was responsible for the geological survey . In 1990 he was with Scripture studies on the morphodynamics of glaciations in northern Germany, taking into account neighboring areas habilitated . He had a teaching position at the University of Bremen . His specialties are ice age research and coastal morphology .

His first crime story appeared in 1992. A large number of his short stories have been published in anthologies and magazines. He published his first crime novel Mitgiegen in 2005. In 2008 the non-fiction book Die Nordsee was published .

For his crime story World Savings Day in Hamminkeln , the crime authors' association Syndikat , of which he is a member, awarded him the Friedrich Glauser Prize in the short story category in 2006 . He is a member of the Crime Writers' Association. Ehlers lives with his family in the Duchy of Lauenburg .
