Jürgen Born

Jürgen Ludger Born (born September 24, 1940 in Berlin ) is a German banker and was chairman of the board of directors and management of Werder Bremen .

biography

education and profession

Born studied economics in Hamburg after graduating from high school . Since 1967 he has been working as a business graduate at Deutsche Bank in Stuttgart and Hamburg. He has been working for the bank in South America since 1969, from 1969 to 1977 in Buenos Aires , from 1978 to 1979 in Frankfurt am Main , London and New York , from 1979 to 1986 in Asunción , from 1986 to 1994 in Montevideo and from 1994 to 1999 in São Paulo . Until the withdrawal of the Deutsche Bank Group, he was chairman of the branches in Paraguay , Uruguay and Brazil .

For many years Born was also President of the German Chamber of Commerce a. a. in Paraguay and Uruguay. Since 2000 he has been Honorary Consul of Uruguay in Bremen . He held other voluntary positions in South America at German schools, German clubs and various social institutions.

Time at Werder Bremen

From July 1, 1999 on, Born took over the honorary chairmanship of the board of directors and management of Werder Bremen .

In March 2009, inconclusive, partly manipulated and also stolen documents emerged. These documents were u. a. used to blackmail Carlos Delgado (husband of Ms. Faré in Lima ( Peru ) who offered the documents ), as well as eleven other people at FC Bayern Munich , FC Chelsea (London), Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen. In this context, there were also allegations against Jürgen Born in, as a result of which Born voluntarily resigned from his office on March 13, 2009 in order to protect the club's image. After a neutral audit report by the auditors from Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) commissioned by Werder, the allegations turned out to be unfounded.

Werder Bremen said goodbye to Born on September 8, 2009 in attendance and a. the committees of the club, sponsors and representatives of the sport and handed him a lifelong season ticket for the VIP rank platinum in the Bremen Weser Stadium .

In 2011 Born received the association's golden badge of honor in the Weser Stadium for his ten years as honorary chairman of Werder.
