Jürgen von Kamptz
Jürgen von Kamptz (born August 11, 1891 in Aurich ; † August 12, 1954 in Roisdorf ) was a German officer , most recently SS-Obergruppenführer and general of the police in World War II . Among other things, he was in command of the Ordnungspolizei (BdO) in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia , Norway and Italy .
Life
His parents were Bernhard Karl Wilhelm Florus von Kamptz (March 28, 1847 - April 11, 1916) and his wife Anna Luise Henriette Elten (July 9, 1856 - June 1, 1920). After attending school, Kamptz joined the infantry regiment “General-Field Marshal Prince Friedrich Karl von Prussia” (8th Brandenburg) No. 64 on June 8, 1912 as an ensign . With this he took part in the First World War. At the end of September 1918 he married Veronika, b. Ayrians. The marriage resulted in two daughters. With the character as Lieutenant Kamptz beginning was from the army fired and entered the Prussian police. Even before power was handed over to the National Socialists , he joined the NSDAP in August 1932 ( membership number 1,258,905). From the end of September 1933 to mid-June 1936 Kamptz worked in Department III of the Police of the Prussian Ministry of the Interior . After that he was General Inspector of the Gendarmerie and City Police in the Main Office of the Ordnungspolizei until April 1937 . From April 1937 to June 1939 he was commander of the police in Berlin. In March 1938 Kamptz became a member of the SS with the rank of SS Oberführer (SS No. 292.714).

Even before the beginning of the Second World War , he became BdO in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia with his office in Prague in June 1939 , his successor in this function was Otto von Oelhafen from May 1941 . From the end of April 1941 to the end of May 1943 he was employed in the main office of the Ordnungspolizei as general inspector of the gendarmerie and protective police of the municipalities and succeeded Rudolf Querner in this function . From the beginning of June 1943 to September 1943, Kamptz was BdO in the Reichskommissariat Norway with headquarters in Oslo .
In September 1943 Kamptz was transferred to Italy, where he finally became BdO Italy under the HSSPF Karl Wolff . As BdO Italy, Kamptz was also subordinate to the anti-gang staff, which killed resistance fighters and political prisoners or transferred them to concentration camps. After consultation with Theodor Dannecker and later Friedrich Boßhammer , Kamptz provided security guards from the order police for the deportation of Jews from Italy. At the beginning of August 1944 Kamptz was appointed SS-Obergruppenführer and general of the police. For his services he was awarded the German Silver Cross on February 7, 1945 .
On April 29, 1945 Kamptz was taken prisoner of war . From Rimini he was transferred to Island Farm Special Camp 11 in June 1947 and from there to the Neuengamme internment camp in October 1947 .
