The Vb6 series was a support tank locomotive with five coupling axles and a Klose steering mechanism in Bosnian gauge of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian State Railways (BHStB).

history

Type sketch

For the development of the areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina occupied by Austria from 1878 onwards , narrow-gauge railways with 760 mm gauge with steep gradients and tight curves were built. The demanding route conditions led to the development and procurement of curve-moving three-coupler machines with Klose steering axles , which were designated as series IIIa4 .

With the Vb6, a similar, but considerably larger five-coupler machine was ordered from Krauss in Linz in order to be able to operate the route over the Komarpass as a more cost-effective adhesion railway instead of toothed racks . Although the test drives with 150 tons of tensile load at 45 ‰ were successful according to contemporary reports, racks were installed after the tests on the Komarpass and the Vb6 remained a one-off.

description

In the 1930s, the elaborate Klose mechanism was expanded to make it easier to travel through narrow arches.

In 1893 Krauss' Linz works delivered the five-coupler locomotive with a single-axle Klose support tender and Klose engine to the Bosnian-Herzegovinian State Railways (BHStB). The machine had inner cylinder, outer frame and outer slide boxes for Stephenson - control . The radial adjustment of the first and last coupling axles was carried out using the single-axle support tender. The wheels on the central axle had no flanges , the second and fourth axles were weakened to make it easier to drive through radii of up to 70 meters.

In the 1940s, the locomotive, which was designated 191-001 by the Yugoslav State Railways JDŽ, was retired.
