Landshut correctional facility

The JVA Landshut is a correctional facility in the urban area of Landshut in Lower Bavaria .

history

The facility was built in 1906/07 as a regional court prison. It was located on the south-western outskirts of the city on Innere Münchener Strasse. Its peak was the institution in 2002 with 299 prisoners (including Freigängern ). It closed on May 31, 2008.

The new penal institution is located on the south-eastern outskirts in Berggrub and began its service initially in trial operation on February 10, 2008.

On May 24, 2014, asylum seeker Muslim H. died after eight judicial officers jointly defeated him. According to the police, Muslim H. had previously rioted in his cell, broke a window, injured himself and attacked judicial officials who wanted to calm him down.
