The Ebrach correctional facility is a juvenile prison of the Free State of Bavaria in Ebrach .

The prison has a capacity of currently 337 prison places in the regular prison system .

history

The institution was established in 1851 in the premises of the Ebrach monastery as a forced labor institution or penitentiary .

On September 9, 1933, Bayernwacht member Lorenz Schriefer was executed by Johann Reichhart in Ebrach prison. Foreign political prisoners were imprisoned in Ebrach during the Second World War .

The institution has served as a juvenile detention center since 1958.

In July 1969, the APO tried demonstrations and discussions to obtain the release of a student imprisoned there.
