Jaćmierz is a village with a Schulzenamt in the municipality of Zarszyn in the Powiat Sanocki of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
The place is located in the Sanoker lowlands . The neighboring towns are Wzdów in the northwest, Górki in the northeast, Posada Jaćmierska in the southeast, Besko in the southwest.
history
In 1390 the village Jaczimirz (today Posada Jaćmierska ) was first mentioned in a document when it was given to the German knight Fryderyk My (s) snar from Meissen as a fief by King Władysław II Jagiełło . Between the years 1428 and 1436 the city ( Oppido ) with the name Jaćmierz ( Iaczymyrz ) was founded. The name is derived from the personal name Jacze (-i) mirz> Jaćmierz, Ruthenian Jačimir> Jačmir.
In the 15th century the city had about 300 inhabitants, including Poles, Ruthenians (Ukrainians), Germans and Hungarians, although the Nazi historian Kurt Lück estimated the percentage of German residents to be 3/4. The village or suburb of Posada Jaćmierska was socially closely connected to the city, so German settlement in both places can be assumed, although it is difficult to determine in Posada Jaćmierska.
During the first partition of Poland , Jaćmierz came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804). From 1855 Jaćmierz belonged to the Sanok District . In 1900 the market town had 668 inhabitants, all of them Roman Catholic and Polish-speaking.
During the First World War in 1915 ( Battle of Gorlice-Tarnów ) the town, like Zarszyn , was largely destroyed and lost town charter in 1934. From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Krosno Voivodeship .
