Jack Haig (born September 6, 1993 in Southport , Queensland ) is an Australian cyclist .
Career
Haig started out in the mountain bike sector . Here he finished fourth overall at the Tour of Bright in 2012 and won two more stages. The following year Haig was Australian U23 champion in cross-country . In the same year he also won the Tasmania Tour . After switching to Avanti, he was able to achieve a remarkable 17th place in the overall ranking at the Tour Down Under and winning the junior ranking. At the Herald Sun Tour he won the junior ranking and finished third overall. At the Tour Alsace he also won the junior ranking and came second behind Karel Hnik.
In 2016 Haig then switched to UCI WorldTeam Orica GreenEdge . In the first year he won the points classification of the Tour of Slovenia and was second overall. He took part in the Vuelta a España . In 2017 he achieved his first international victory on the 6th stage of the Tour of Poland . When he participated in the Vuelta a España again , he was 21st. In 2018, he took part in the Giro d'Italia and finished the race in 36th place. Haig finished in 19th place in the Vuelta a España . At the UCI Road World Championships 2018 in Innsbruck he was 19th in 2019, behind the first three drivers, Egan Bernal, Nairo Quintana and Michal Kwiatkowski, he was fourth at Paris-Nice, just 18 seconds from the podium. At his first participation in the Tour de France he finished 38th. With the team he won the team time trial at the Czech Cycling Tour . He also finished third in each of the Bretagne Classic - Ouest-France and Gran Premio Beghelli . At the end of the season, he was also sixth in the Tour of Lombardy . In 2020 he finished second in the Tour of Valencia and second in the Tour of Andalusia, where he won the 4th stage in Andalusia.
