Jack Lowden (born June 2, 1990 in Chelmsford , Essex ) is a British actor.

Life

Lowden studied acting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama , where he graduated with a master's degree in 2011. At the age of 12 he made his first appearance on stage as John in a Peter Pan production at the King's Theater in Edinburgh. 2014 he played alongside Kristin Scott Thomas at Old Vic Theater , the role of Orestes in Elektra by Sophocles , directed by Ian Rickson . In 2012 he appeared in the stage adaptation of Chariots of Fire in the role of Eric Liddell .

From 2010 he also took on smaller roles in television and film productions. He played the lead role of Steven Patrick Morrissey in the biopic England Is Mine , which premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2017 and was released in theaters on August 4, 2017 . In Christopher Nolan's war film Dunkirk from the same year Lowden can also be seen in a lead role.

Prizes and awards

In 2014 he won the Laurence Olivier Award and the Ian Charleson Award for Best Supporting Actor in the Almeida Theater production of Ibsen's drama Ghosts .
