Jack Splash

Jack Splash (* in Los Angeles , California as Matthew Kahane ) is an American music producer and lead singer and producer for the radio group Plantlife .

Musical career

Plantlife was founded by Splash and producer Panda One in the late 1990s. In 2004 the two released their debut album The Return of Jack Splash with DJane Rashida the Beautiful and singer Dena Deadly . It was named Album of the Year at DJ Gilles Peterson's BBC Radio 1 Awards . The album Time Traveler followed in 2008 . Both albums received high praise from critics and other musicians. Plantlife is compared with Prince and OutKast , among others , Splash himself describes the group as "somewhere between Earth, Wind and Fire and Daft Punk ".

Since 2006 Jack Splash has also produced other artists outside of Plantlife. His songs mostly refer to the soul and funk of bygone eras and are orchestrated live. So far he has worked with John Legend , Groove Armada , Alicia Keys , Raheem DeVaughn , Estelle , Solange Knowles , Anthony Hamilton and Jamie Foxx , among others . The song he produced, I'm His Only Woman, directed by Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia Barrino , earned Splash a 2009 Grammy Awards nomination . Many of the songs were co-written by Cee-Lo Green , with whom he forms the duo The Heart Attack . Her song Gangsta Boogie can be heard on the soundtrack of the film Disturbia . Splash's first solo album entitled Technology and Love Might Save Us All is slated for release in autumn 2009 . To do this, he worked with well-known artists from the hip-hop and R&B genres such as Kelis and Lupe Fiasco . The first single will be I Could Have Loved You with Missy Elliott and Jazmine Sullivan .
