Jackie Dougan

Jack "Jackie" Dougan (born 1930 in Greenock , Scotland , † January 27, 1973 in New South Wales , Australia ) was a British jazz musician ( drums ).

Live and act

Dougan worked in the British jazz scene from the mid-1950s; first recordings were made in 1956 with Buddy Featherstonhaugh . In the following years he played in the bands of Tommy Whittle and Eddie Thompson ; During this time he also recorded with Kenny Baker , Bert Courtley & Don Rendell ( The Jazz Committee ), Cleo Laine , Sandy Brown and the Harry South Orchestra. In the early 1960s he was a member of the Dick Morrissey Quartet. He then played in the Ronnie Scott Quartet, of which Malcolm Cecil was a member.

After working with Scott, he was a member of the Tony Coe Quintet and was involved in the recording of Stan Tracey ( Jazz Suite Inspired by Dylan Thomas's "Under Milk Wood" , 1965), Al Fairweather , Brian Lemon , Sonny Stitt , Johnny Griffin , Ben Webster , Stan Getz , Gordon Beck , Tubby Hayes , Al Cohn and Zoot Sims with. In 1965 he accompanied guitarist Wes Montgomery with Stan Tracey and Rick Laird at a studio session for BBC2 . In 1968 he toured with the Don Burrows Orchestra in Australia. In the field of jazz he was involved in 67 recording sessions between 1956 and 1968, according to Tom Lord .
