Jack "Jackie" Holmes (born September 4, 1920 in Indianapolis , Indiana ; † March 1, 1995 ibid) was an American racing car driver .
Career
Jackie Holmes started the AAA National Series in 12 races between 1947 and 1953 . In 1947 in Springfield he achieved his best result with a fourth place.
He started three times in the Indianapolis 500 . In 1949 he retired with a Kurtis Kraft 6-wheeler after 65 laps with damage to the drive. In 1950 he had an accident with an Olson - Offenhauser after 123 laps. He was rated 23rd. In 1953 , this time in a Kurtis Kraft 4000-Offenhauser, he retired with his teammates Travis Webb and Johnny Thomson (driver changes were allowed at the time) on the 166th lap with a leak in the oil pan.
Since the race between 1950 and 1960 was part of the drivers' world championship , two Grand Prix starts are also included in the statistics.
After his career, he ran an electrical goods store in Indianapolis.
