Jacob Leon VanCompernolle (born August 2, 1993 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American football player in the position of defender . Since 2016 he has been playing for Swope Park Rangers , the second professional team of the major league soccer franchise Sporting Kansas City , with play in the third-rate North American United Soccer League .

Career

Career start

Jacob VanCompernolle was born on August 2, 1993 as the son of Mary and Paul VanCompernolle in the metropolis of Dallas, Texas, and grew up here and in the vicinity of the city. At an advanced age, he attended RL Turner High School in Carrollton , a northern suburb of Dallas, from 2008 , and was also active in the school's football team. In the high school team, under coach Marshall Huston, he came to his missions as a regular player from his freshman year. In all four seasons he was elected to the All District First Team because of his achievements and helped the Turner Lions , as the sports department was called, to the District 18 AAAA championship titles in 2009 and 2011 (his sophomore and Senior year). In his final senior year in 2011, he was also honored individually, including as a Dallas Morning News All Area player and as a District MVP . From his second year in the team, he appeared as their team captain and worked in this position until he graduated from school. Parallel to his high school career, he also worked for the youth training club Dallas Texans Soccer Club between 2008 and 2011 . With its U-14 team, he took part as captain in the finals of the Helsinki Cup , the Gothia Cup and Manchester United Premier Cup , where the team made it to the quarter-finals. In 2009 he made it with the U-16 team to the semi-finals of the Gothia Cup and took part in the Copenhagen Tivoli Cup . In 2010/11 he appeared for the U-18 US Soccer Development Academy team, with whom he remained undefeated for the entire season and ended this season in third place nationwide. In his final year 2011, he played with his team in the Dallas Cup Super Group , another important international youth tournament.

Change to UNC Wilmington

In the academic year 2011, VanCompernolles moved to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Wilmington , North Carolina , where, in addition to his studies, he was also active in the men's soccer team of the UNC Wilmington Seahawks sports department . In his first year under the former professional Aidan Heaney , VanCompernolle acted, as he was used to from high school times, as a regular player in the defense line. Especially his senior year 2014, in which he started from the beginning in all 20 of his missions and scored two goals, as well as prepared another four for his teammates, was characterized by individual successes. With the team he made it to the second round of the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship after defeating Bucknell University in the first round game . In round two, however, the team was eliminated 1: 3 against the team from the University of Virginia from the current tournament. VanCompernolle was again elected to the All-CAA-First-Team and the All-NCCSIA-First-Team this year and was also named CAA-Defensive-Player-of-the-Year . Start into professional football
