Jacques de Luxembourg-Ligny
Jacques de Luxembourg-Ligny (* around 1420; † August 20, 1487 in Nantes ), Seigneur von Richebourg , came from the House of Luxemburg-Ligny and served Charles the Bold of Burgundy and later the French King Louis XI.
Life
Jacques was knighted after the Battle of Gavre on July 23, 1453 . He then served the Burgundian dukes , especially Duke Charles the Bold, as a troop leader. In 1468 he was accepted into the Order of the Golden Fleece . When his brother Louis , the Connétable of France , was executed for treason in 1475, Jacques was also captured by the French. He was only released after 10 years when he agreed to serve in the service of Louis XI. to enter. He became its councilor and chamberlain and was accepted into the Order of Michael . His move to the French side meant that he was excluded from the Order of the Golden Fleece during the festival of the Order in 1481.
