Jakob Henrichmann or Heinrichmann (also Hainrichmann ; * around 1482 in Sindelfingen ; † June 28, 1561 in Augsburg ) was a German humanist , lawyer and Roman Catholic clergyman .

Life

Henrichmann's youth is in the dark. In any case , one of his teachers was Heinrich Bebel , who exerted a great influence on him. Together with Bebel, he is said to have been one of the first in Germany to try to use a better Latin grammar. On November 4, 1497 he was enrolled at the University of Tübingen . He studied law and philosophy and obtained his master's degree on June 24, 1502 . It is unclear whether he will also become a Dr. phil. received his doctorate . From 1502 to 1506 he taught law and the Latin language at the University of Tübingen. He is also said to have studied at the University of Ingolstadt , where he obtained at least a Dr. iur. utr. acquired.

Henrichmann entered the service of Augsburg Bishop Heinrich IV von Lichtenau as a councilor in 1514 . In the same year he is also said to have become a canon at the cathedral chapter of Augsburg Cathedral . From 1518 to 1534 he also appeared as a judge at the Federal Court of the Swabian Federation , which had its seat in Augsburg. In 1519 he also became a canon at St. Moritz in Augsburg. From 1520 to 1558, when he fell out with the bishop, he was vicar general under the bishops Christoph von Stadion and Otto Cardinal von Augsburg . In this position he was involved in the counter letter in 1537 after the council decided to expel the Catholic clergy from Augsburg and in 1549 represented the diocese at the provincial synod in Mainz .

Henrichmann also held various parish offices. From 1521 to 1541 or until his death, he was pastor of Zusmarshausen and until 1533 also in old towns near Sonthofen . He was also provost of Wiesensteig Monastery , which was Protestant from 1555. He donated 1000 guilders for poor virgins in Dillingen on the Danube . Epitaphs can be found both in the cloister of Augsburg Cathedral and in Zusmarshausen.
