Jakob Kranz (born October 15, 1974 in Königs Wusterhausen ) is a German moderator and editor .

Career

Kranz began his career as a child speaker for the radio play ensemble from the radio of the GDR and as a voice actor for DEFA- Synchron . After graduating from high school, Kranz completed a commercial apprenticeship and worked as a specialist consultant and dispatcher at the sound carrier dealer WOM (World of Music) . From 1998 to 1999 he was the production manager of the film production company moovie-The Art Of Entertainment for various cinema, TV and advertising productions. Since his internship at Radio Fritz , the youth radio of the rbb, at the beginning of 2000, Kranz worked there as a music editor, presenter and reporter . He moderated the programs Nightflight , Blue Moon , RadioFritzen in the afternoon and from issue 123 from May 2, 2007 to issue 149 from August 26, 2009, the Chaos Radio of the Chaos Computer Club . In addition, from September 2001 to February 2017, Kranz presented the weekly heavy metal broadcast Stahlwerk on Radio Fritz from rbb.

From summer 2003 to September 2009 he regularly organized the Stahlwerkparty , a metal event in the Berlin area. He was a member of the jury for the Berlin pre-selection for the Wacken Metal Battle and moderator of "Wacken Radio 2008". Jakob Kranz wrote regular columns for the music magazine unclesally * s as well as for the successor magazine Greatest .

In January 2010, Kranz switched to the Berlin editorial team of Metal Hammer magazine . Among other things, he wrote reports on the Rammstein concert in New York's Madison Square Garden , accompanied the Danish band Volbeat in their hometown of Copenhagen, and reported from the studio of the Californian band Machine Head . Kranz was in the production of special issues for Black Album by Metallica in September 2011, Appetite for Destruction by Guns N 'Roses in the spring of 2012 and the chronology History of metal involved.

In October 2012, Kranz switched to the Dortmund magazine Rock Hard as editor . In 2014 he co-founded Deaf Forever magazine and has been part of the editorial team there since the first issue.

After Radio Fritz announced the postponement of the steelworks slot (from Thursday 8 p.m. to midnight) from February 4, 2017, listeners of the program started a petition against the new broadcast time at midnight, which was signed over four thousand times. A short time later, Kranz switched to the radio station StarFM , on which the steelworks has been operating at the usual time since March 2017 under the new name Heavy Hour .
