Jakobsthal has been part of Heigenbrücken in the Bavarian Spessart since July 1st, 1972 . The place has about 300 inhabitants.

geography

Jakobsthal is located at an altitude of 389 meters between Heinrichsthal , Schöllkrippen and Heigenbrücken in the Hasselbach valley. The ski lift on the Engländer has been located above the village since 1969 . The topographically highest point of the village mark is to the west of the village on the Steigkoppe at 493  m above sea level. NN , the lowest is on the Lohrbach at 310  m above sea level. NN .

history

In the 15th century, the Electors of Mainz brought in the first glassmakers from Bohemia and Flanders . In 1636 the name of the master of a glassworks in this region appeared for the first time, Heinrich Fleckenstein from the glassworks in Wollersbuch. In 1639 another smelter was named, Jacob Fleckenstein . An account book from 1652 shows that Heinrich and Jacob were brothers. In 1664, the two place names Heinrichs Grundt andt Jacobs thael were mentioned for the first time as location names. Since the Jakobsthal glassworks mainly produced glass buttons , it was popularly known as the Knöpphütte . In 1648 the master glassmaker had this name registered.

As part of the Archbishopric of Mainz, Jakobsthal fell to the newly formed Principality of Aschaffenburg in the secularization of 1803, owned by the Prince Primate von Dalberg. After that, Jakobsthal was in the Rothenbuch district fair of the Aschaffenburg department in the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt. In 1812 it had 35 fireplaces and 203 residents. Maire was Johann Kunkel, his adjuncts were Johann Adam Bachmann and also Johann Kunkel. As a result of the treaties of Paris Jakobsthal came to Bavaria in 1814 and initially belonged to the second-class regional court Rothenbuch, which was founded on October 1, 1814. Today's municipality was created in the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria with the municipality edict of 1818.

On September 3, 1858, the district court Schöllkrippen was formed from parts of the district court districts of Alzenau and Aschaffenburg and from the communities of Jakobsthal and Heinrichsthal of the district court district of Rothenbuch. On July 1, 1862 u. a. the district office of Alzenau was formed from the regional court of Schöllkrippen. On January 1, 1939, it was renamed the Alzenau district in Lower Franconia. When it was dissolved, Jakobsthal came to the Aschaffenburg district on July 1, 1972.
