Jakub Sucháček (born November 17, 1978 in Čeladná ) is a former Czech ski jumper .

Career

Sucháček took part in the first FIS competitions in 1990. In January 1994 he started in Liberec for the first time in the World Cup . After winning the silver medal with the team at the 1994 Junior World Championships held in Breitenwang , he took part in the 1994 World Ski Flying Championships in Planica at the age of 15 and finished in 27th place. From the 1994/95 season he started regularly in the World Cup. He was able to jump into the top ten several times, but also had bad jumps and ended up in the back of the field. On January 29, 1995, he was able to celebrate the best result of his career with a second place in jumping in Lahti . Three days later in Kuopio he was only 50th and last. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay , in which he also took part, he was 25th on the large hill and missed the final on the normal hill as 32nd. In the following 1995/96 season, his performance remained similarly inconsistent. At the ski flying world championship in 1996 on the Kulm , he achieved the best result of the season with a ninth place. In the winter of 1996/97, his form stabilized and he was able to achieve constant performance in midfield, with the exception of a few jumping competitions in which he came under the top ten. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim in 1997 , he came 26th and 30th. In the 1997/98 season he missed the second round of all normal World Cup competitions. Only at the World Cup ski flying championship in 1998 in Oberstdorf was able to take 16th place. He was also able to improve his performance at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and took 15th place on the large hill, having previously finished 28th on the normal hill. In the 1998/99 World Cup season he was almost always able to place in the top 20 and in February 1999 in Harrachov he celebrated another podium finish as third. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Ramsau in 1999 he took eleventh place on the normal hill and 28th on the large hill. In the following seasons 1999/2000 and 2000/01, if he was able to qualify for a World Cup at all, he mostly missed second Passage. In 2001 he ended his career.
