James Davis (athlete)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

James Davis (born March 19, 1976 in Champaign ) is an American sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

In 2000 and 2001 he was US indoor champion. At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 2001 in Lisbon, he reached the final, but suffered an injury in the hamstring muscles and had to give up.

In 2003 he was the starting runner of the US team in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham . The US quartet ran in the line-up of Davis, Jerome Young , Milton Campbell and Tyree Washington in first place, but was subsequently disqualified because Young admitted ongoing doping for the period from 1999 to 2003 and his results at that time were therefore canceled. In the summer he won silver with the US relay at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo .

2008 Davis came again to an international use in the 4-by-400-meter relay at the Indoor World Championships in Valencia and won gold together with Jamaal Torrance , Greg Nixon and Kelly Willie .

James Davis studied at the University of Colorado and works as a data integrity analyst at Intrado.
