James FitzGerald-Kenney

James Fitzgerald-Kenney (born January 1, 1878 , † October 21, 1956 ) was an Irish politician of the Cumann na nGaedheal and the Fine Gael .

biography

After attending school he studied law and worked as a lawyer after completing his studies . He began his national political career as a candidate for Cumann na nGaedheal with the first election as a deputy ( Teachta Dála ) of the lower house ( Dáil Éireann ), in which he represented the interests of the constituency of Mayo South after six subsequent re-elections until 1944 . Since the 1937 election he was a representative of the Fine Gael in the House of Commons.

From August to October 1927, with the exception of a short break, he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice. Subsequently, he was Minister of Justice from October 12, 1927 to March 9, 1932 of the Executive Council of the Irish Free State as a member.

After suffering defeat in the 1944 elections, he left the Dáil and withdrew from politics.
