James Henry Garland

James Henry Garland (born December 13, 1931 in Wilmington ) is the former Bishop of Marquette .

Life

James Henry Garland was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati on August 15, 1959 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Bishop of Garriana and Auxiliary Bishop in Cincinnati on June 2, 1984 . He received his episcopal ordination from the Archbishop of Cincinnati, Daniel Edward Pilarczyk , on July 25 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Nicholas Thomas Elko , Auxiliary Archbishop ad personam in Cincinnati, and Edward Anthony McCarthy , Archbishop of Miami .

He was named Bishop of Marquette on October 6, 1992, and initiated into the office on November 11 of the same year. He resigned from his office on December 13, 2005.
