James Komack
James Komack (born August 3, 1924 in New York City , New York , † December 24, 1997 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film director , television producer , actor and screenwriter .
life and career
Komack began his career as a stage comedian and turned to acting in the 1950s. In 1956 he played a supporting role as a baseball player in the successful musical Damn Yankees , which he played again in the film of the same name the following year . He then took on other supporting roles in film and television, he was seen in episodes of the television series Wagon Train and played the son of Edward G. Robinson in the comedy One Number too Big .
However, Komack increasingly focused on working behind the camera. Between 1958 and 1985 he was behind the camera as a director for television productions such as Raumschiff Enterprise or The Dick Van Dyke Show . He also directed Porky's Revenge (1985), a sequel to the teen comedy Porky’s . As a producer, he has been involved in successful sitcoms such as Eddie's father (1969–1972) with Bill Bixby , Die Zwei von der Gasstelle (1974–1978) with Jack Albertson and Welcome Back, Kotter (1975–1979) with Gabe Kaplan . In 1976 he was for his directing work on Welcome Back, Kotter for the Emmy Award nominated.
James Komack died of heart failure at the age of 73 . He was married to his wife Cluny until his death and had a daughter.
