Jamie Lynn Corkish , b. Beyerle (* 26. May 1984 in Lebanon , Pennsylvania ) is a former American sports shooter and Olympic champion . During her athletic career, her name was Jamie Lynn Gray .

Career

Jamie Lynn Gray started practicing with a BB Gun at the age of eight. In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society and also played softball , soccer, and basketball . While studying at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks , she joined the ranks of the local sports shooting team, where she also met Matt Emmons .

In 1999 she took part in the Junior Olympic Championships and the US Championships for the first time. Two years later she won her first title with a gold medal in the junior competition at the Championship of the Americas . In 2002 she was the first American champion with the air rifle. Further national titles followed in 2004 and 2007. Also in 2007, she won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro .

With the victory in the so-called Trials , she qualified in early 2008 for the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing , where she came 4th in the competition with the air rifle.

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , she won the gold medal in the small-bore three-position fight ahead of Ivana Maksimović and Adéla Bruns with a new Olympic record in the preliminary fight (592 rings) and a new Olympic final record (691.9 rings).

In 2013 she retired from competitive sports due to a back injury and married Mike Corkish at the end of the year. Both work at the ammunition manufacturer Eley. Mike and Jamie have a son (* July 2016). Two children from Mike's first marriage still live in the family.
