Jan Legierski (born March 10, 1952 in Istebna ) is a former Polish Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Legierski, who started for KS ROW Koniaków until 1980 , was already internationally successful as a junior. He was runner-up at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1971 in Nesselwang and a year later at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Tarvisio . After breaking his collarbone in a fall from Wielka Krokiew shortly before leaving , he missed the 1972 Winter Olympics .

In the years that followed, Legierski was one of the best combiners in the world. Among other things, he won the combined competition at the Lahti Ski Games in 1974 . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 in Falun , he finished seventh in the individual. Legierski started at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck and came in 18th. Four years later he was at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid tenth. At national level, Legierski won nine medals in Nordic Combined, but only became Polish Champion once in individual.

Legierski competed in ski jumping competitions over and over again during his career . For example, he was regularly placed in the top thirty at the Czech Marusarzówna Memorial in Zakopane or in competitions as part of the Beskydy Tour . On March 11, 1980, he even made his debut in Falun in the Ski Jumping World Cup , but clearly missed the points.

After another serious injury, Legierski ended his career in 1983. He then worked as a trainer, among other things.
