Jan Lipke (born July 24, 1983 in Hamburg ) is a former German basketball player. After Lipke had played for the first division clubs from Phantoms Braunschweig and Eisbären Bremerhaven for almost ten years in addition to a foreign station in Belgium , Lipke had to end his career in the 2nd Bundesliga in 2013 after suffering knee problems after two years . In 2014 he returned to the polar bears and became the youth coach of the team in the youth basketball league (NBBL).

Career

Lipke came for the 2001/02 season from the Baskets from Oldenburg , for which he had had his first four appearances in the top German division of men after being promoted again, to the first division competitor from Braunschweig , who had barely escaped bankruptcy in the previous season . Here he played next to the first division squad primarily for the reserve team at the parent club SG Braunschweig in the 2nd basketball league , but thanks to a double license he also played in the top German division. In the basketball Bundesliga 2002/03 , the Braunschweig first division team reached the third main round place as TXU Energie , but was eliminated in the first play-off round for the championship against defending champion Alba Berlin . After Lipke had only nine short appearances in the top division in the basketball Bundesliga 2003/04 , he was regularly used again in the 2004/05 season in the first division team, which, however, missed the play-offs for the second time in a row was able to increase his playing time to over ten minutes per game. In the basketball Bundesliga 2005/06 , Lipke was one of the top performers of the team with an average of over 20 minutes and almost nine points per game, but the team was last in the table with just seven wins this season. Although the Braunschweiger prevented relegation after increasing the league, Lipke moved abroad and played a season in the Belgian Löwen for the Spotter Baskets in the Ethias League , which also only came to the bottom of the table in the closed league.

For the 2007/08 basketball Bundesliga , Lipke returned to Germany and played for the Eisbären from Bremerhaven . With the polar bears, he failed as eighth in the first play-off round at the eventual champions Alba Berlin. In the following season, Lipke was able to increase his share of the game and was individually with eight points per game in a good 15 minutes of play as effective as three years earlier in Braunschweig, but in the end his team again finished last in the table. Thanks to a wildcard , the polar bears were able to make it to the top division. In the following two seasons, Lipkes' shares of the game decreased again to less than ten minutes playing time per game, but the polar bears made it into the play-offs for the championship of the best eight teams again twice. In 2010 , in the semifinal series against the Skyliners Frankfurt, in the decisive fifth game, they just barely missed entry into the final series. Lipkes' contract, which was injured when his contract expired in March 2011, was no longer extended and he moved to southern Germany for the first time and finally played from December 2011 for the relegation-threatened second division promoted "TOPSTAR Kangaroos" in the ProA , in which he was already his brother Tom Lipke , who was three years his junior , had been active for five seasons. Despite an increase in performance of the Kangaroos, relegation was narrowly missed and Lipke switched for the following season to ProA promoted Oettinger Rockets from Gotha , with whom he just reached relegation in the ProA 2012/13 . After 13 appearances in the ProA 2013/14 , Lipke suffered a serious knee injury shortly before Christmas 2013, which not only meant the end of the season, but ultimately also the end of his career, as Lipke decided not to return as an active player.

After the end of his active career, Lipke returned to the Eisbären Bremerhaven in 2014 and was the coach of the junior team in the youth basketball league (NBBL) until 2016 . He then took on other tasks in Bremerhaven's youth work.
