Jan Metzler (born July 5, 1981 in Worms ) is a German politician ( CDU ). On September 22, 2013, he ran as a direct candidate for the Worms constituency . With 42.0 percent, he was the first direct candidate for the CDU to win this constituency, which had previously been won by the SPD since 1949 .

In the 2017 federal election , he defended his constituency and was confirmed as a directly elected member with 41.1 percent of the vote.

Life

Metzler attended the Von Dalberg School in Dittelsheim-Heßloch from 1988 to 1992 . Then he went to the secondary school in Osthofen, where he obtained his secondary school leaving certificate in 1998 . He then began vocational training as a winemaker , following in the footsteps of his father Helmut Metzler to take over the family winery together with his sister Julia, who was Rheinhessen wine queen in 2006/07 . After completing his training as a winemaker in 2001, he obtained his technical college entrance qualification at the Bad Kreuznach technical college. From 2003 to 2004 he completed a distance learning course in event management . At the University of Applied Sciences in Worms , he took a degree in commercial management until 2008, followed by a degree in international management , which he completed in 2010 with the academic degree of Master of Arts . From 2005 to 2008 he was a student assistant at the University of Applied Sciences in Worms with a focus on personnel management and has been the coordinator for international student exchanges there since 2008.

In the Bundestag

From 2013 to 2017 , Jan Metzler was a full member of the Committee for Economic Affairs and Energy and the subcommittee for regional economic policy and ERP business plans . He was a deputy member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the "Disarmament, Arms Control and Non-Proliferation" subcommittee . He is also one of the 75 Union MPs - 68 from the CDU (26.9% of all CDU MPs) and 7 from the CSU (12.5% ​​of all CSU MPs) - who voted for same-sex marriage at the end of June 2017 .

For the 19th German Bundestag , Metzler is again represented as a full member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy and the subcommittee on regional economic policy and ERP business plans .
