Jan Stefan Roell

Jan Stefan Roell (born October 25, 1954 in Düsseldorf ) is a German entrepreneur , board member of the employers' association Südwestmetall , chairman of the board of Zwick Roell AG in Ulm and president of the Ulm Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Life

Jan Stefan Roell studied electrical engineering in Munich and then did a doctorate in business administration . His professional career began in 1982 at the consulting firm McKinsey & Company , joined in 1985 as Managing Director RK Amsler testing machines AG in Switzerland . In 1992 Roell became a managing partner at the Ulm testing machine manufacturer Zwick GmbH & Co. KG .
He is the CEO and majority shareholder of Zwick Roell AG , based in Ulm-Einsingen, the leading international manufacturer of test systems in the field of mechanical material testing.

From 2006 to 2009 Jan Stefan Roell was chairman of the employers 'association Südwestmetall and in this role was negotiator for the employers' side in several collective bargaining rounds . He gave up this office after three years because of the high time involved, but still kept his seat on the board of the association.

On the occasion of the election of the Federal President on May 23, 2009, Jan Stefan Roell was a member of the 13th Federal Assembly in Berlin at the suggestion of the CDU parliamentary group in the Baden-Württemberg state parliament .

He has a seat on the supervisory board of the Ulm University Hospital and was elected as a representative of the regional economy in the general assembly of the Ulm Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) .
Roell is also a co-founder and sponsor of the International School Ulm / Neu-Ulm (ISU) and chairman of its supervisory board.

In October 2015 Jan Stefan Roell was elected chairman of the Ulm University Council. In this role, Roell wants to promote applied research, the networking of industry and business and internationalization.

Personal

Jan Stefan Roell is married and has six children; he lives with his family in Ulm. In his spare time, Jan Stefan Roell plays the trombone in a band.
