Jan Szarek
Jan Szarek (born February 13, 1936 in Bielitz (today Polish: Bielsko-Biała)) is a Lutheran theologian and former bishop of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .
Career
From 1960 to 1962 Jan Szarek was pastor in Nawiady ( German Aweyden ) near Mrągowo (Sensburg) , then until 1970 in the parish of Giżycko (Lötzen) , then from 1970 to 1975 diocesan vicar in Bielsko-Biała (Bielitz-Biala) . In 1984 he became the church consistory and also chairman of the Förderrat the diaconate "Ebenezer" in Dzięgielów (Dzingelau) .
On January 6, 1991, the Church Synod elected him Bishop of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland. He held this office until 2001 before passing it on to Janusz Jagucki . In the same year his office as chairman of the Diakonie of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland ended.
In 2001 Jan Szarek received an honorary doctorate from the Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw .
