Janel Meilani Parrish (born October 30, 1988 in Oahu , Hawaii ) is an American actress and singer .

Life

Janel Parrish is the daughter of the American Mark Parrish and his wife Joanne of Chinese descent. She was discovered during a talent competition in Hawaii. Then she was cast as a young Cosette in the play Les Misérables in a travel company . This was followed by her first smaller roles in series such as Baywatch - The Lifeguards of Malibu and OC, California , before she gained greater fame through her recurring role in Heroes . Parrish, who also plays piano, took part in a remake of the show Star Search in 2003 and released her first album in 2007 with Rainy Day (Geffen Records). She also appeared on Broadway in the well-known role of Cosette in Les Miserables and as Anna in Spring Awakening . For her leading role in the feature film Bratz , she was nominated for the negative award Golden Raspberry 2008 . From 2010, she was initially part of the supporting cast of the series Pretty Little Liars for two seasons , from season 3 to the end of the series she was listed as the leading actress.

In 2014 she took part in the 19th season of the US dance show Dancing with the Stars and took third place with her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy .
