meaning
Jaroslav Goll was an important historian, influential educator, politician, poet and translator. He is believed to be the founder of the positivist historical Czech school. He mainly devoted himself to Czech - Polish relations. At the university he set up seminars in which not only lectures were given, but the researchers also learned how to analyze the sources as a basic method of historical research. The so-called Goll School, which was maintained by his students, including Zdeněk Nejedlý , Josef Pekař and Josef Šusta , lasted until the 20th century.
Together with Jan Gebauer and Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk , he played an important part in the uncovering of the forgery of the Königinhofer and Grünberger manuscripts .
In addition, one of the main focuses of his research was the Bohemian Brothers , a religious community of the 15th and 16th centuries, which was largely widespread in Bohemia .
