Jaroslav Pouzar (born January 23, 1952 in Čakov , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czechoslovak ice hockey player .

Career

Jaroslav Pouzar played for Motor České Budějovice in the first twelve years of his career in Czechoslovakia . During this time he was appointed six times in the World Cup , twice in the Olympics and also twice in the Canada Cup squad of the Czechoslovak national team. He made a total of 186 internationals and won the Olympic silver medal with Czechoslovakia in 1976 , as well as world and European champions in 1976 and 1977 . Only in the NHL Entry Draft 1982 he was drawn in the fourth round in a total of 83rd place by the Edmonton Oilers . In its first three years there, Edmonton won the Stanley Cup twice ( 1984 , 1985 ) . He was the first Czech Stanley Cup winner .

For the 1985/86 season , the then Bundesliga club ECD Iserlohn signed him . After his second year in the Sauerland , he went back to Edmonton for the finals and play-offs of the NHL and promptly won the Stanley Cup a third time. In the following season 1987/88 , the striker moved to Sportbund Rosenheim after the bankruptcy of the ECD Iserlohn . Until the end of his career in 1992, with the exception of the 1990/91 season ( Augsburger EV ), he only played for SB Rosenheim.

In 2004 Pouzar fell ill with leukemia . After a bone marrow transplant , he won the battle against the disease.
